Religion or Fear?

By Gusti Aditya

sstdr.net — If I am given an opportunity to express an opinion, then my opinion is closed with criticism, being hunted, killed, imprisoned, or further exiled, of course, I will talk about religion. Religion, which once appeared as a solemn form of rite, has now turned into a truly social religion.

Emile Durkheim would smile at this opinion. Furthermore, Durkheim mapped representation and rite into the simplest things. Now it is my turn to laugh, his opinion on "primitive forms of religion", is like a new student view of dinosaurs or caveman fossils found in the Brantas River. Read civilization, but don't study it deeply. But that's human. They are trapped in the search for a macrocosmic identity which — more or less — will continue until the earth is destroyed (religious people call this condition the apocalypse). As a sedative, humans create rites which — he said — amazingly touch the mind. In fact, this rite is their simplification of the failure to find a truly unified macrocosm.

Human thought has evolved more and more, but the view of the Absolute is still stagnant. Heroic stories are built so powerfully. Splitting the ocean, towards the moon, dividing and worshiping the earth, until its mouth will appear offerings. From those who begin to provide basic things, to those that are clearer called rites. Books appeared on the pretext of perfection. Guide for carrying out the rites. Luckily there is good, sensible content. But of course, a fairy tale is inserted, which is actually more appropriate to read before a small child falls asleep and thinks of Mickey Mouse with his problems.

I agree with Sigmund Freud, in The Thee Essays on the Theory of Sexuality, that from birth, physical and sexual urges have controlled most children's behavior. The relationship between sexuality and religion gave rise to an interesting term from Freud called Oedipus Complex.

One of the lecturers of philosophy asked a very messy question, "Why do we call God?" An educated person, even his mind is very blank. E.B. Taylor, steeped in animist theory without going to university, has an even more plausible mindset than the educated man's question. Taylor said, the relationship between the rational-basis of thought and social evolution can be seen in every aspect of human culture. Then a symbol appears. A medium that is considered able to convey intent and purpose with just a snap of a finger.

Taylor supports this with evidence of primitive society. Without realizing it, the people closest to us often do this practice. An undeveloped religion, followed by a movement with such great civilization, gave birth to stupid humans like Ali Kalora and other MIT members. They are the perfect product of the unbalanced thought between religion and civilization that rises from the collective sun that rises and sets.

I say there are many complete human beings who use religion properly and correctly. Even though the religion he holds, has never followed the lines of the times. Every human being has a different mindset, while the products of failure by the propagators of religion blindly are of course real and existent. The end is the religious people fighting against each other. We remember when the incident in France, as a minority party, was certainly affected. Now it is happening in Indonesia, a country that is based on many religions and traditional beliefs, which was later claimed by one religion, sees this civilized incident as shortsighted and unbalanced.

Religion or fear? I prefer to think of this barbaric incident as the act of fools who misunderstand religion. No religion teaches killing, if there is, the head turns into a sheep's head. There is no room for discussion between them — Ali Kalora and colleagues — only ignorance is cultivated and reproduces. Islam, as far as I know, teaches virtue. It is the same as Christians, Jews, or even 'Dinamo' worshipers.

Religion, although stagnant, is competing to create rules, propositions, and verses for goodness. This happened from time to time. The consequence is to give birth to a human being petty and uneducated. They cannot see religion as a sharpening medium as well as a slicing knife in society. If Durkheim was still alive, lighting a cigar in the courtyard of the house, reading the news about MIT's stupidity and lame reason, I'm sure he would laugh. He would then speak, “I was wrong. There are more primitive forms of elementary religion such as the Totem. Namely, humans who cannot use religion wisely and correctly. "
